When one walks into ones local tackle shop today there is an abundance of different lures available,
all very well designed and crafted for specific fishing situations. There is no doubt that these flashy
hand-crafted lures are absolute works of art, but are these lures the only way to catch fish?
A lure that I have had great success with over the years is the very humble chisel-nosed plug. This lure is to my mind one of the more versatile lures available that can be fished in a variety of different conditions for a huge variety of species.
It may come from the dark ages, where artlure angling was the domain of a few very patient, very hardworking anglers, but in this article I will highlight the reasons why I believe that the plug deserves at least one place in every artlure anglers tackle box.
